Slow Cooker Secrets: Set It and Forget It

Golden Rules

1. Brown meat first for deeper flavor

2. Don't lift the lid (adds 15-20 minutes each time)

3. Layer dense vegetables on the bottom

4. Use less liquid than you think (it doesn't evaporate)

5. Add dairy and fresh herbs at the end

Perfect Slow Cooker Meals

  • Pulled Pork - 8 hours on low
  • Beef Stew - 6-8 hours on low
  • Chicken Tikka Masala - 4-6 hours on low
  • Vegetable Curry - 4 hours on low
  • White Chicken Chili - 6 hours on low

Low vs High

  • Low (190°F): Best for most recipes, 6-10 hours
  • High (300°F): Faster but less tender, 3-5 hours
  • 1 hour on high = approximately 2 hours on low
